child wearing red clothingThe emphasis in kindergarten is academic. Students learn to read and write in English and Spanish. They learn mathematical skills and concepts such as addition, subtraction, numbers to 100 and measurement. They investigate the world God has created and its people.

Kindergarten Curriculum

  • Bible

    • The Bible curriculum is Hands-On Bible Curriculum by Group Publishing. With this curriculum the students not only hear the Bible story, but also see visuals, have hands-on activities, as well as have healthy, easy-to-make, Bible-related snacks for a fun Friday cooking experience. Students memorize verses each week in English and in Spanish.
  • Science

    • Christian Liberty Press science curriculum, God’s Creation Series, is the basis for our science curriculum. The six days of creation are studied in great detail, discovering God’s wonderful creation. Experiments and other activities to help illustrate and reinforce what was learned. Weekly findings are recorded in an experiment notebook.
  • Social Studies

    • Community Helpers, America: Our Great Country, and Children of the World are the three main areas of study in the ABeka Book Social Studies K5 curriculum. Visuals, activity pages, crafts and games reinforce the concepts taught.
  • Math

    • BJU Math K5 is used for the mathematics curriculum the first semester. Math concepts are explored through hands-on experiences. The students benefit from seeing, doing and practicing math concepts daily. Anisa Matemática K is used for mathematics instruction the second semester.
  • Handwriting

    • To enhance the students’ handwriting the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum is followed. This curriculum uses easy step-by-step instructions to help the students write the letters with little or no complication. The workbook practice helps the students write legibly and neatly.
  • Phonics/Reading

    • ABeka K5 Phonics Curriculum is the basis for the English reading curriculum. Students are taught to distinguish short and long vowels as well as numerous special sounds used to decode words. Abeka readers such as ‘Little Books’, I Learn to Read, and Family Fun books are used for practice and fluency. BOB books also supplement the program.

      The Spanish reading curriculum is Leo from Editorial Norma. Reading comprehension is emphasized.
